Genetics make solid black super rare - In fact, these are the first black cavaliers born on the South Island. Super excited!!

Cavalier colour genetics revolve around:

• Black-based tan point pattern (producing black & tan or tricolour)
• Recessive red (producing ruby or Blenheim)

To get a solid black dog, you’d need:

• Black eumelanin
• No tan points
• No white spotting
• No recessive red

AND KARADON KENNELS HAVE THAT!! HENCE PRODUCING RARE, UNIQUE TRUE BLACK CAVALIERS

Majority of the current gene pool simply doesn’t carry the combination needed for a true solid black coat.
